Rules of Engagement
Welcome to the Veracode Community. We are excited that you’re here!
Our mission is to support our members through their Veracode journey and deliver secure software. To that end, we work hard to ensure that we align our actions with that purpose. By adhering to the Community Rules of Engagement, you help build a welcoming, supportive, and collaborative community that aids all of us in developing and securing software.
Please do
- Search first to see if it has been asked before. But feel free to post a new question if it doesn’t quite match yours!
- Be specific. For example, “How do I fix CWE 80 Basic XSS in JavaScript on jQuery.append?” is better than “How do I fix XSS?”
- Create a simple, short example code snippet that is representative of the problem you have and post this, rather than your production code. Including code snippets helps the Community better understand the specific problem you are facing and will likely yield more accurate answers.
- Post your question to the relevant forums. When clicking on the “Post your Question” button, thoughtfully select the forum you post to.
- Tag your post with other relevant topics to increase visibility.
- Product: “Veracode Static Analysis,” “Veracode Sofware Composition Analysis,” etc.
- Technology: “Java,” “.NET,” “JavaScript,” etc.
- CWE ID: CWE 80, CWE 73, etc.
- Post helpful and informative comments.
- Be nice to each other! We are all here to learn and help each other out, and we may have different backgrounds and levels of experience - so please be kind and respect others.
- “Mark best answer” if someone replies to your question with the correct answer. That way, you can help others who have the same question quickly see which reply is the most useful.
- “Like” posts and comments that you find helpful and valuable. By giving members the credit they deserve, you’re increasing the overall content quality of the Community.
- “Upvote” product ideas that resonate with your needs. The more support a product idea receives, the more likely it will be considered for implementation by the Veracode product team.
Please don’t
- Include sensitive or confidential information about your company, such as complete URLs to an application, API keys, user passwords, application names, binaries or cod_e_ (even in a screenshot). Let’s not forget that security is our top priority.
- Create content that intends to scam, mislead, spam, or defraud other members.
- Insult others. Insults do not contribute to a rational discussion. Constructive criticism, however, is appropriate and encouraged.
- Abuse others. This includes. personal attacks, hate speech, negative comments or slurs against race, sexual orientation or gender, or threats to a member's safety.
- Be (intentionally) rude. Ask yourself before hitting the post button “would I say to someone’s face what I am about to say to them here?”
- Post personal information or links to personal information.
- Flood the Community with a lot of posts or comments in a short period of time. By doing this you overwhelm the new queue. Your future submissions may be automatically blocked by the spam filter.
*We maintain the right to deactivate your Community account for not following our rules and regulations.
