I connected with a Veracode solution architect (thanks @krise (Veracode, Inc.) !) and here is his feedback: the scan will start when the upload is done - there is no waiting. Leave the ‘wait for scan to finish’ box unchecked and you should get the result you want.

We do in fact have "Wait for scan to complete unchecked". Below is an excerpt from one of our TeamCity build logs. This configuration was averaging under 1 minute build time before adding the Veracode build step. After Veracode this build took over 38 minutes, only to ultimately fail anyway.

Hi @WBradney035779 (Community Member) - here is @krise (Veracode, Inc.) 's feedback: It looks like you are trying to select modules, which would require prescan to complete (so we know what modules exist in your upload). You also seem to have a problem with your permissions. At this point, we'd suggest opening a support request. There could be one of several problems here and it will likely take some time to get all the info to correctly diagnose the problem.
