Browser Session Time-Out on the Veracode Platform

An ongoing frustration for our organization has been the short window of time that is allowed before your user account is automatically logged out of the platform. It is understandable that this control is in place for security reasons, but security and usability are a give and take. I don't know how many times I've been doing something in the platform (making/editing a dashboard, updating a DAST config, etc) and I lose all of my progress simply because I get sidetracked for 5-10 minutes. When I go back to what I was doing and see that I have been automatically logged-out and that nothing had saved, I keep asking the question, why? Its not just me experiencing this, others at my company share this same frustration. Is it possible to increase this window to something like an hour so that its less likely that we lose our progress?

p.s. numerous times I have been working in the platform and even while I am actively doing something, I will get a pop up message saying I will be logged of in 1 minute if I do not remain active. Maybe some kind of bug is triggering an early time-out because that message should not pop up while I am actively working.

  • Hello @Blomgren (Community Member) ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community,

The Veracode Platform automatically ends your session and logs you out after a period of 15 minutes with no activity. In your case this maybe different.

Please clear your Google Chrome cache and cookies in your browser, then close the browser, and open a new browser session. Then log into the Veracode platform https://web.analysiscenter.veracode.com/.

    Best regards,

It can sometimes "timeout" far faster than 15 minutes and return you to the home page as well, which is equally annoying.

This is a serious problem with the platform -- it's more or less useless for reviewing issues (as you'll go to look at some code, make a change, and then go back to look again at the next item and you are already logged out). And it's especially poor since it won't take you back to the same page after it times you out and you log back in.

There is an "IDEA" in the Ideas section -- please go vote on it and complain lots to your account managers as this seems to be not high enough priority with the product management team yet...

I have brought this to our account managers many times and they always just say to go make a post in the community. I thought I was posting an "IDEA". Well, yes, many times it feels like it is MUCH less than 15 minutes. Maybe they would consider changing it to 30 minutes.

I hate that when you log back in you have to work to get back to where you were, an easy first step would be save the session so you can resume it!
