Can Veracode CLI scan local Docker Images?

I am using the Veracode cli to test image scan results. The knowledge article uses "alpine:latest".

However if I try to scan local containers on my machine, let's say "exampleimage" I get the following error :

Could not construct source from user input

could not fetch image "exampleimage:latest": unable to use DockerDaemon source: pull failed: Error response from daemon: pull access denied for exampleimage, repository does not exist or may require 'docker login': denied: requested access to the resource is denied

Does the CLI always pull the image from Docker registry? Is there a way to scan local images?

My end goal is to scan images in a build pipeline
